There Are 4 Modes

The existing charging modes define the way an electric vehicle is connected and communicates with the electrical grid.
This communication ensures safe operation depending on the equipment involved and the power load. The modes are defined by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) in the international standard IEC 61851-1.

Mode 4

up to 800 kW

Mode 1 (AC)

Mode 1 charging tends to disappear and is forbidden in most European countries. It is extremely dangerous in addition to being very slow. For this mode of charging, the vehicle is connected to a standard AC socket.
The maximum power supply is limited to 2.3 kW.

Mode 2 (AC)

Mode 2 charging is done with a standard AC socket. The EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) control box is located on the cable. It changes the AC current to DC and functions as a circuit breaker.
Some auto dealers provide this type of portable charger as standard equipment for electric cars, however they are often very slow.
The maximum power supply is limited to 3.7 kW.

Mode 3 (AC)

Mode 3 is the best choice when it comes to charging your vehicle at home. They are very economical and are perfectly suited for daily use. It is recommended to choose these over superchargers in order to extend battery lifespan.
The maximum power supply is limited to 22.2 kW on the three-phase charger, and 7.4 kW on the single-phase charger.

Mode 4 (DC)

Mode 4 is the fastest charging method. Fast charging stations are ideal for very long journeys. Superchargers are mostly public, but very expensive, and they sometimes also require the use of specific membership cards. Some car models do not have the necessary plug to connect with combo CSS.
The maximum power supply is limited to 800 kW, but for most vehicles, the max. power supported is lower.
